Practices at Family Centered Midwifery during delivery and in the immediate postpartum period are structured to give you and your baby the important elements needed for establishing a successful breastfeeding relationship. These include:
- Immediate skin-to-skin contact
- No separation of mom and baby
- No invasive procedures during first hour including cutting of the umbilical cord
- Assistance with "baby led" latch in the first hour
